Choose Joy is based out of Dover, Delaware.

We can assist locally with basic needs. What we don't have, we will assist in connecting you with other local resources. If you live out of the area, we will still help connect you with resources local to you. We have helped in Maine, New York, Tennessee and more. Please don't hesitate to register.

We run off donations and community support. We strive to not duplicate, but to fill the gaps families experience after fires.

Choose Joy is striving to fill the gaps and help with transportation costs, housing, food and clothing by purchasing gas/gift/grocery cards that we send to a designated representative of the hospital. And ask the public to do the same.  We have a mechanic who helps our clients and volunteers fix their cars on a sliding scale, based on income to offset transportation issues. We collect nonperishable food and tv dinners for our families in motels, clothing, furnishing, and household items for local families who are rebuilding after the tragedy of house fires. We have a volunteer LSW to advocate for the folks we are helping. Our long term goals are to assist with well pet check ups, assist families in securing temporary and permanent housing after a fire, demos and cleanup help for uninsured or under insured clients, and to assist with funeral expenses as needed.

Our volunteers are key. Our beautiful community is full of people who want to help. Without all the great people who help us, we could not do what we do. 

They come from all walks of life. 

We have magicians to social workers, rock stars to our accountant who give freely of their time and energy to make sure no one feels alone after a fire.

We do accept and welcome volunteers who need community hours. We are proud to say most stay with us after their hours are completed.  

Volunteering helps us in hosting and co-hosting events that spotlight the talented people in our community, with a positive message that wouldn't have the means to get the exposure and connections our events give them. Our Joy loved the guy no one heard of. She was fast to pop in a cd and say "listen to this band you will love them", so in her memory we strive to give those performers a spotlight, and super star treatment for giving back and sharing their talent to give our families a hand up. 

We have built an amazing group of local talent from musicians to magicians, painters, to shock performers who all love to share their talent, skills and knowledge with others in the community in support of Choose Joy and our local Arts. We love to partner with other nonprofits, small and home business owners, and our community, to make the events amazing and memorable for everyone involved.

The last piece of this multi faceted nonprofit we have created here is the running and promoting of this beautiful charity we created in Joyce Anne's memory. Choose Joy gives a living stipend and pays those in our community who cannot work traditional employment, or just need a hand up to get over a tough patch while allowing them the dignity of earning their own money.
